Behind the curtain...
'illusion' photography by sweetmango Behind the ego is the place where true happiness resides. The ego tries to veil true happiness with a curtain of words, a torrent of negative that confuses us and leaves us wandering blindly, leaves us maimed on this journey so that at times we are barely able to continue upon our path. Don't be fooled, these words of non-truth are only a flimsy veil, a satin curtain blowing in the wind of deceit, behind that flimsy veil lies the truth. The ego is constantly trying to kick out our feet from underneath us. The ego is scared and fearful and like all negative states it wishes to have companions, after all is it not true that 'misery loves company'. The ego scares us away from true happiness, it is the gremlin guarding the door to paradise, but we can relinquish its hold over us. If we choose to relinquish the need to control, the need to be approved and the need to judge, then the veil falls and ego is left standing naked, for it is control, approval and judgement that clothe and feed the ego. We need to be vigilant in our pursuit of happiness, we must always be on the lookout for and be aware of the times we are fuelling the fire. Let go of the need to control. Let go of the need for approval. Let go of the need to judge. Even if we find ourselves doing it, just stop, instantly the minute that we become aware of it. Even if we are with another when we realise we are doing it, we should stop and look them in the eye and from the heart say to them. Im sorry, I was trying to control you. That is not who I wish to be. or Im sorry, I was seeking your approval. That is not who I wish to be. or Im sorry, I was judging you. That is not who I wish to be. Because when we are honest in this way, something beautiful happens. The person you are speaking to is caught off guard in a pleasant way and they find themselves wanting to be more honest just like you. Try it out. oh and by the way, if they don't try to emulate you , then that is ok too..... because, We are not seeking their approval and we are not trying to control them and we wont judge them should they choose to continue down the path of illusion that is ego. You are loved and if you look hard enough you will see that love is all around you. xxsm |

This was exactly what I needed to hear today- part of me was thinking I'm a wimp. But stopping long enough to say sorry for not being who I wanted to be has certainly just worked for me... Are you sure you've not been reading my mind?! :)
thank you...
"It has been my goal to dedicate my life to serving the needs of the most vulnerable people in society. I derive more happiness in my life from helping others than in anything else I've done." quote from Princess Diana
